FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: video data obtained by adding fictitious video data to the peripheral region of input video data are divided into blocks which correspond to positions of light-emitting diodes (LED). LED brightness in the display area displaying an image which corresponds to the input video data is defined in accordance with the maximum value among hue values of pixels which are included in the unit which corresponds to said LED. LED brightness in the non-display area displaying an image which corresponds to empty video data is defined in accordance with the average brightness level of some of the small blocks lying next to the block which corresponds to the LED in the non-display area and is obtained by further division of the block of the display area which neighbours the unit which corresponds to said LED.
EFFECT: improved display quality in the border area of the display area and the non-display area.
