FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to conversion of sulfur bearing compounds in H2S. Proposed method comprises stage A of bringing said gas in contact with reducing gas in the presence of hydration catalyst containing, at least, cobalt and molybdenum, and aluminium oxide as carrier. Note here that total content of cobalt and molybdenum in terms of oxides makes 3-25 wt % while aluminium oxide surface makes over 140 m2/g. It comprises another stage B of bringing fraction of gas of stage A in contact with catalyst containing, at least, one alkali-earth metal, one alloying additive selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt and molybdenum and one compound selected from the group consisting of titanium and zirconium oxides. Note here that stage B catalyst represents either solid oxides of material containing only aforesaid oxides or an applied oxide.
EFFECT: conversion of sulfur bearing compounds in H2S.
