FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of water purification from nitrite ions. Water solution, which contains nitrite ions, is treated in electrochemical cell with inert electrodes and non-separated anode and cathode space. Inter-electrode space is filled with water solution, which contains sodium chloride in concentration 0.15÷0.20%, voltage on electrodes being 19.0÷19.5 V, current density 0.4÷0.6 A/cm2, time of electrolysis 20-40 minutes.
EFFECT: economy of expendable materials and reduction of energy consumption.
