FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing a double isopropylate of magnesium and aluminium which is a starting compound for synthesis of nanodispersed powder of an aluminium-magnesium spinel, which can be used to produce transparent polycrystalline ceramics. The method involves reaction of isopropyl alcohol with magnesium and aluminium in the presence of an activator, followed by purification of the obtained product. The magnesium and aluminium are used in form of an alloy which contains not less than 32 wt % Mag and not more than 68 wt % Al, and the activator used is tin chloride in amount of not less than 0.1 wt % of the amount of the starting alloy in the presence of ammonium halides in amount of not less than 0.2 wt % of the starting alloy; the reaction is carried out with metered supply of alcohol into the top part of a tubular reactor which is heated to temperature of 80-200°C.
EFFECT: present invention enables to obtain the desired product with high purity using a simple, cheap and highly efficient method.
