FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method is realised in a diaphragmless cell which is equipped with an anode and a cathode, in the medium of methyl or ethyl alcohol in the presence of a base, as a result which there is direct electrooxidation of said acids, where the anode used is graphite, pyrographite, Pt-Ir metallurgical alloy, or nanoparticles of a Pt-Ir alloy in amount of 0.1-1.0 mg/cm-2 which are deposited on the surface of glass carbon, and the cathode used is a stainless steel cathode.
EFFECT: use of the present method increases output and selectivity of electrocatalytic synthesis of certain alkanes and olefins, while optionally obtaining unsaturated alcohols.
