FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in installation of an electric double-wire line in ice with subsequent force action at an ice cover. Parallel conductors are laid into ice at the distance of 2-3 cm into saw cuts or frozen by means of heating as current is sent. Parallel conductors end with shorting electrodes and are connected to a high-voltage capacitance accumulator. Force action is developed as a result of Lorentz force by mutual repulsion of conductors while passing high-energy pulses of electric current. Besides, a high-energy pulse causes sharp heating of conductors, which results in their explosive damage along the entire length.
EFFECT: breaking of an ice cover in a specified direction.
