FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel methods of producing aryl-sulphur pentafluorides of formula (I) where: R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 each independently denotes a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an unsubstituted alkyl group having 1-18 carbon atoms or a nitro group; R denotes a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom; M denotes an alkali metal atom; and X denotes a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom. The methods involve reaction of at least one aryl-sulphur compound with a halogen and a fluorine salt to obtain aryl-sulphur halotetrafluoride. The aryl-sulphur halotetrafluoride reacts with a fluoride source to obtain the desired aryl-sulphur pentafluoride.
