FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: method for determining the shaft stability of inclined wells involves extraction of cores from wells and manufacture of specimens of cylindrical shape from them, which are cut at an angle to core axis. After that, knowing overburden pressure at the specified depth and pressure at the well face, single-axis compression stress is applied to the specimens along the rotation axis. Changes of longitudinal deformation value of the specimen with time are measured for each of the various values of applied loads. Then, average deformation speed is calculated at different densities of drilling mud. Allowable density of drilling mud is determined based on the obtained data.

EFFECT: reduction of labour intensity required for specimen testing and improvement of determination effectiveness of well wall stability.
