FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cryofocusing devices for chromatographic analysis meant for cooling part of the capillary of a chromatographic column and rapid heating thereof for sorption (concentration) of components of the analysed mixture by cooling on a small section at the beginning of the chromatographic column and subsequent desorption by heating said section of the capillary. The cryofocusing device consists of a rapid heater mounted inside the thermostat of a gas chromatograph, said heater being in form of a spiral of platinum wire inside of which there is quartz capillary through which an eluent flows. The heater is simultaneously a temperature sensor and lies inside a mouth piece mounted in the thermostat of the gas chromatography column which is movable relative the heater, wherein in the narrow part of said mouth piece there is a nozzle which is linked by a pipe to a coolant source (CO2 or liquid nitrogen). The mouth piece has on its surface two diametrically opposite grooves whose width matches the outer diameter of the heater.
EFFECT: design of a compact cryotrap with a controlled cooling zone, which can be placed inside the thermostat of a chromatographic column in the immediate vicinity of the outlet of an injector or a thermal desorber with a concentration tube filled with tenax, enabling use of a capillary chromatographic column as a cryotrap, on which the analysed substances are separated.
