FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: test voltage from a high-voltage generator is applied via an electrode to a continuous cable. Breakthrough instances are recognised, displayed by means of a detection circuit, and summed by means of a defect counter. In order to check reliability of defects recognition via short regular time intervals the high pulse test voltage of the previously specified level, specified duration and frequency is applied to a fixed discharge gap. At the same time the pulse test voltage is formed by means of a high-voltage generator of the spark control instrument itself.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of recognition.
