FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: at least three zones of nonlinear interaction are formed and then used as forward-scattering parametric antennae. To this end, a radiating and at least receiving transducers of a measuring hydroacoustic system are placed in the horizontal plane of the space of the controlled medium which is irradiated with a low-frequency acoustic pumping radiator. Three forward-scattering parametric antennae are formed between the radiating and receiving transducers. The receiving transducers are placed at corners of the horizontal triangle such that lateral transducers lie at opposite corners of the sector for receiving information waves, and the central transducer lies at its axis and near the radiating transducer. Parametrically converted pumping waves are received by said receiving transducers, three-channel amplified in a parametric conversion band, their frequency-time scale is transferred into the high-frequency domain and narrow-band spectral analysis is carried out. As a result of narrow-band spectral analysis, parametric components of side bands are selected, from which, based on parametric and frequency-time conversion of pumping waves of the medium, the initial characteristics of the information waves are restored. Also, correlation functions of signals received by the central and lateral transducers are measured in the selected parametric components. Further, their cross correlation function is measured, from which at the time of onset of maxima and corresponding time delays, the direction of sources of broadband radiation is determined.

EFFECT: longer reception range, wider frequency range and enabling detection of the direction of sources.
