FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: two zones of nonlinear interaction of pumping waves with information waves are formed and then used as forward-scattering parametric antennae. To this end, a low-frequency acoustic radiator is placed at one boundary of a controlled area of the marine environment, and two broadband nondirectional receiving antennae which are spatially spaced apart in the horizontal plane are placed at the opposite boundary of the controlled area. Parametrically converted pumping waves are received by the receiving antennae, amplified in the parametric conversion band and their frequency-time scale is transferred into the high-frequency domain. Phase difference signals of the spatially spaced apart receiving antennae are measured, subjected to narrow-band spectral analysis and parametric components of summation and difference frequency are selected. Based on parametric components of the summation or difference frequency, taking into account parametric and frequency-time conversion of pumping waves, the initial characteristics of the measured information signals are restored. Also, parametric components of the lower side band are selected in the measured spectra, secondarily transferred into the high-frequency domain and their spectral characteristics are measured. Frequency and space-time behaviour of ELF oscillations are determined from the measured spectral characteristics.
EFFECT: longer range and noise-immunity of reception, wider frequency range.
