FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in designing ICE version, conducting assembly-by-assembly, full-size and experimental tests to define, from their results, lifelength acceptability, determining probability of faultless operation by binary principle, conducting ICE life tests, determining probability of ICE faultless operation, and making final decision about ICE design. After assembly-by-assembly, full-size and experimental tests to define, from their results, lifelength acceptability factor in determining probability of faultless operation and acceptability factor in experimental tests of full-size ICE. Results of calculations of lifelength acceptability factors are used to plant engine development rate. After assembly-by-assembly, full-size and experimental tests of designed engine and operating data of commercial model, a priori Weibull distribution is plotted. Estimate of technical risks of acceptance of said limited number of tests using acceptability factors is defined. Said estimate is used to make decision on advisability of further development of designed ICE. ICE design is accepted with due allowance for probability of engine faultless operation.
EFFECT: possibility to be used for development of pioneer ICE designs.
