FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for centralised control of operation of vehicles. Each of the controlled vehicles is fitted with a receiver of radio navigation signals of satellite radio navigation systems; these signals are received; the current values of time, coordinates and speed of the vehicle are calculated from the received signals; a packet of information is formed, which contains the number of the vehicle and data on the current values of time, coordinates and speed of the vehicle. Further, the formed packet of information is converted to a signal for transmission over a radio communication channels and transmitted to the vehicle control station where reception, processing, storage and registration of the packet of information is carried out. Further, a database of the road network of the region where the vehicles are operating which is associated with geodetic coordinates is formed, said database containing data on traffic restrictions on parts of the road network. A vehicle number-associated database of technical characteristics of the vehicles is also formed, which includes total weight, actual load on any axis, dimensions and maximum speed. The type and technical characteristics of a vehicle are determined from its number. The part of the road network on which the vehicle is located, the direction of movement and current position and speed of the vehicle are determined from values of current coordinates and speed of the vehicle by accessing the database of the road network of the region where the vehicles are operating. Further, the information on the current speed, direction of movement and technical characteristics is compared with information from the database of traffic restrictions on that part of the road network of the region. If the speed, direction of movement, type or technical characteristics do not match the restrictions, they are further included in the formed packet of information. Formation of the database of the road network, the database of technical characteristics of vehicles, determination of the part of the road network with the vehicle and the direction of movement of the vehicle, as well as said comparison of information are carried out at the vehicle controls station.
