SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of detecting a television signal which is embedded in a received signal comprising the television signal and noise. First or second order cyclostationarity of the signals may be employed for detection thereof. When first order cyclostationarity is employed, the following method is employed. The method comprises steps of raising sampling frequency of the received signal by a factor N, performing synchronous averaging of a set of M segments of the received signal with the increased sampling frequency, performing signal autocorrelation, and detecting peaks at the output of the autocorrelation function. When second order cyclostationarity is employed, the method comprises steps of delaying the received signal through a constant delay (symbolic time), multiplying the received signal with the delayed version, finding pitch (single frequency) in the output signal.
EFFECT: high efficiency of identifying television signals deeply buried in noise.
