FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely paediatrics and somnology, and may be used for diagnosing of insomnia syndrome in children aged 2 weeks to 4 years. For this purpose, past history is examined to detect threatened miscarriage in a mother, resuscitation measures for the first 7 days of a child's life, hypertension- hydrocephalic syndrome, suffered general anaesthesia and intestinal infection in the child. At the moment of examination, the presence of hypertension- hydrocephalic syndrome is determined. Besides, total sleep time a day, length of falling asleep, number of night wakening ups, number of night wakening ups a week, number of failures of night putting to bed a week, number of days when a child was sleepy and capricious. Also, putting to bed while feeding, lulling, in the presence of an adult, in a parent's bed. The relevant values are expressed in scores. Total score for all the values is calculated. If total score is 7 and more, insomnia syndrome is diagnosed.

EFFECT: technique enables diagnosing insomnia syndrome at the early stages, successfully correcting said pathology and conducting well-time prevention of sleeping apnoea syndrome, sudden infant death syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, growth inhibition and psychomotor retardation.
