FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a catalyst for reforming hydrocarbons and a method of producing synthesis gas using said catalyst. Described is a catalyst for reforming hydrocarbons which contains a mixed oxide having a composition of formula (I) given below, where cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni) and a metal (M) are dispersed in the mixed oxide: aM·bCo·cNi·dMg·eCa·fO (I) in which indices a, b, c, d, e and f are molar fractions, a+b+c+d+e=1, 0.0001<a≤20, 0<b≤0.20, 0<c≤0.20, 0.001<(b+c)≤0.20, 0.60≤(d+e)≤0.9989, 0<d<0.9989, 0<e<0.9989, f is equal to a number which is such that the element maintains charge balance with oxygen and metal (M) is at least one element from group 3B and group 6A of the periodic table of elements. Described also is a method of producing synthesis gas, wherein synthesis gas is obtained from a hydrocarbon and a reforming agent using the catalyst described above.

EFFECT: reforming catalyst is capable of maintaining high catalytic activity for a long period of time when reforming hydrocarbons.
