FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to grinding mineral substances in an aqueous medium in the presence of binding materials. The method of obtaining self-binding pigment particles involves the following steps: a) preparing one or more aqueous suspensions of at least one pigment, feeding said suspension(s) into a grinder to carry out step c); b) preparing or using one or more aqueous solutions or suspensions or emulsions of at least one binding material and feeding into a grinder to carry out step c), and/or preparing and using one or more dry binding materials and feeding into a grinder to carry out step c); c) mixed grinding of the aqueous suspension(s) obtained at step a) with one or more aqueous solutions or suspensions or emulsions and/or with one or more dry binding materials obtained at step b) to obtain an aqueous suspension of self-binding pigment particles. Optional steps can then be carried out in an aqueous suspension, specifically mixed grinding, increasing concentration, dispersion and drying. After step c) and preferably after each optional step, the inverted emulsion formed by dispersing water particles in an oil phase and at least one acrylamide polymer with an acrylic monomer is added.

EFFECT: reduced foaming and sedimentation of the self-binding pigment particles.
