FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to self-binding pigment particles which are widely used in different engineering fields. A method of producing self-binding pigment particles includes preparing an aqueous suspension of mineral pigment material, preparing polymer binder and mixing. Content of solid substances in the obtained suspension is adjusted so that it equal to 45-80 wt % with respect to the total weight of the suspension. Said binder contains modified polysaccharide having carboxylation degree of 0.4-2.0 and internal viscosity of 10-200 ml/g. Carbon in the binder has a rate of nuclear transmutation from 14C into 14N of 900-920 conversions per hour per gram of carbon in the binder.
EFFECT: present method provides self-binding mineral pigment particles with high content of solid particles while eliminating the energy-consuming and long step of increasing concentration with formation of undesirable agglomerates, and also reduces atmospheric pollution with CO2 when products are burnt by avoiding the use of fossil-based binder.
