FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: electrochemical test sensor for determining concentration of analyte in a liquid sample has: a base with a counter electrode and a working electrode which is electrically connected to an electric current detector; a reagent layer containing an enzyme which reacts with the analyte; a cover which is linked to the base and forms a capillary space with an opening for feeding the liquid sample. The sensor has a dielectric layer which forms a dielectric window, the size of the working electrode being restricted in one direction by the dielectric window, the size of the counter electrode (42) being restricted in one direction by at least the dielectric window (50b) and the capillary space (58) and the size of the dielectric window being different from the size of the capillary space. The group of inventions also relates to a version of the electrochemical test sensor, wherein the size of the counter electrode (42) is restricted at least in part by the end of the capillary space (58c) and stretches along the entire width of the capillary space (58), wherein at least part of the width of the counter electrode is larger than the width of the working electrode.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables to increase the size of the counter electrode without increasing the size of the capillary space.
