METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR RESISTIVE LOADS IMITATION Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC H05B37/02

Abstract RU 2476040 C2

FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: methods and apparatus for imitation of resistive loads and performance of serial, parallel and/or serial-parallel connections of multiple loads for operating capacity consumption. The loads voltametric characteristics are modified in the preset way thus promoting predictable and/or desirable behaviour of the multiple loads consuming capacity from the power supply. Among possible loads are LED-based light sources and LED-based illumination units. The voltametric characteristics modification may result in the load behaving as, essentially, a linear or resistive element for the power supply within at least one operating range. When multiple such loads are connected, voltage on each load appears comparatively more predictable. In one example, serial connection of multiple loads with a modified voltametric characteristic may work one linear voltage requiring no transformer.

EFFECT: load voltage control simplification.
