FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in purification of phenol-containing discharge waters, industrial sewage, as well as oilfield waters. To realise the method catalytic oxidation of phenols with manganese-containing oxidiser is carried out in thermostated reactor with automatic mixing. As manganese-containing oxidiser used are ferromanganese concretions, which contain iron (III) oxide in mole ratio 1:2 to active manganese oxide (IV). Oxidation process is carried out at ratio of liquid phase volume to hard phase weight 50-55 l per 1 kg of ferromanganese concretions at temperature 303-343 K and pH=5-6. Method ensures reduction of phenol content in highly concentrated with phenols sewage waters (not less than 1 g/l) to 0.15-0.18 g/l, purification degree increasing with increase of temperature and contact time.

EFFECT: content of phenol in low-concentrated with phenols sewage waters (not less than 1,2 mg/l) is reduced to MPC values -0,001 mg/l.
