FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: manganese-bearing material is leached with 70-98% sulfuric acid in presence of sulfite ion- containing reduction solution to give pulp, which is separated and separated solution is further processed. Amount of sulfuric acid corresponds to 77-95% based on amount stoichiometrically required for binding manganese into sulfate. Sulfite ion-containing solution is, more specifically, 20-40% potassium bisulfite solution with pH 5.2-6.0.
