FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of base manganese ores, in particular ferromanganese concretions of Baltic shelf, as well as slimes and dust from ferroalloy furnaces using sulfuric acid method, which can be applied in production of a variety manganese products. Processing includes leaching of raw material with sulfuric acid solution in presence of reducing agent, in particular ammonium sulfite-bisulfite solutions at weight ratio of ammonium bisulfite to sulfuric acid present 1: (0.52-1.55) and summary normality of acid reagents (brought in with sulfuric acid and ammonium sulfite-bisulfite solutions) corresponding to 110-133% based on stoichiometrically required quantity to form manganese sulfate. Process is conducted at pH 3.5- 5.5 and 30-70 C. EFFECT: extended assortment of base manganese ores to be processed, reduced consumption of acid and reducing agent, increased productivity, and enabled single-stage operation. 1 tbl, 4 ex
