FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of industrial and household effluents by electrochemical process and can be used for treatment of phenol-containing effluents, industrial effluents and associated waters of oil fields. In the method of purifying waste water from phenol, the initial pH of the purified water is adjusted to 3.5-9.5 by adding ammonium persulphate (NH4)2S2O8 thereto in range of 0.02-1.7 g/l or peroxide hydrogen. Electrocoagulation treatment of the treated water is carried out using iron electrodes at current strength 2 A for 3-20 minutes. During electrocoagulation treatment, pH is kept in range of 3.5-9.5 by adding sodium hydroxide NaOH with concentration of 100 g/l. After electrocoagulation treatment, the treated water is filtered from particles of oxidised compounds and the phenol-free water is analysed.

EFFECT: low content of phenol in industrial waste water.
