FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises making time markers with preset interval, measuring simultaneously the transferred medium pressure in two sections at every end of control pipeline lengths spaced 0.001 to 0.04 of pipeline length apart, comparing said measured pressures, and recording pressure wave at synchronous leaks at both ends of pressure stepwise variation section. Stepwise pressure change in internal section at one end of pipeline length occurs earlier than in external section while at another end said change occurs later. Fluid pressure wave propagation direction and velocity are defined by aforesaid time markers corresponding to said stepwise variation to control said velocity.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and reliability, faster determination.
