FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method involves obtaining time marks with specified uniform interval, pumped medium pressure measurement on each end of the section in two cross sections located at some distance between them, which is 0.001 to 0.04 of the length of that pipeline section, comparison of pressure values with nominal pressure value, comparison of time marks at moments of stepped pressure variation in external and internal cross sections on each end of the section and determination of outgoing wave of increased pressure if stepped pressure variation on both ends of the pipeline section occurred in the internal cross section earlier than in external cross section, with further determination of the coordinate of fluid medium inlet point to the pipeline section as per time marks of the specified events.
EFFECT: enlarging functional capabilities, improving manufacturability, accuracy, reliability and quick action due to effective and on-line control of the pipeline in real-time mode.
