FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: cyclic charged particle accelerator comprises deflecting dipole magnets for generating closed particle orbits, an accelerating and focusing system in form of quadrupole lenses lying on straight sections of the particle orbit, and particle beam input and output systems. When special conditions for the structure of deflecting dipole magnets are met, said magnets can be made from permanent magnets or electromagnets with a time-constant magnetic field and provide small radial deviations of the orbit of given value in the entire energy range of the accelerated particles. The accelerator has an additional rigidly focusing system in the deflecting dipole magnets. A pulsed inductive accelerating system with beam time of flight sensors enables to accelerate charged particles in a wide range of energies (particle time of flight) and charge to mass ratios of particles.

EFFECT: higher maximum energy during cyclic acceleration of charged particles in a constant magnetic field, which simplifies the design, reduces the cost of making and operating the accelerator, the invention widens the range of parameters of accelerated particles on particle charge and mass.
