FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ship building, particularly to underwater lifting-and-shifting operations. For lifting-and-shifting operation, submarine vessel with stiff support provided with pads is submerged onto sea bed. Here, negative buoyancy is imparted to vessel to provide for minimum sufficient stability on bed at capsizing bottom current. Then object is gripped and moved out from the contact with bed. Prior to moving the object from contact with bed, it is imparted a positive buoyancy lower that underwater weight of said object by said minimum negative buoyancy. Immediately before lifting the vessel with object and after equalising forces and moment acting thereon, vessel buoyancy is increased at maximum possible rate by dropping a part of its solid ballast onto bed and simultaneous separation of all supports therefore by varying orientation of pads. At initial stage of lifting, solid ballast is completely forced back aboard to allow vessel move as submarine. Proposed underwater vessel represents a catamaran submarine with watertight hull accommodating cargo compartment with grippers and their vertical drives. Vessel supports are equipped with pad turn drives. Besides, the vessel is equipped with solid ballast handling mechanisms, part of said ballast is composed of articulated chains.
