URINE INTAKE AND PRESERVATION ASSEMBLY WITH STATIC GAS-FLUID SEPARATOR ABOARD SPACECRAFT Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC B64G1/60 B01D25/36 

FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to life support systems, primarily, for spacecraft. Proposed assembly comprises urinal, vessels with preservative and flushing water, filter insert for separation of coarse mechanical impurities, flushing water and preservative proportioner, centrifugal separator of gas-fluid mix (GFS), static GFS separator with nonwoven high-bibulous desiccant, tank with squeezer, transfer air blower and urine collector. Said blower is connected with harmful impurities filter while tanks are furnished with filling and emptying pickups. Static separator has cylindrical casing 14 with bottom 16 and unions 17, 18 for GFS feed and air discharge, respectively. Cover 15 is tightly connected with casing 14 accommodating coil with central axial perforated tube 24 and limit flanges 19 with bores. Spokes 20 are arranged between said flanges to support band from nonwoven high-bibulous desiccant retained by substrate (not shown). Helical port for GFS passage is made between union 17 and said central axial perforated tube 24 communicated with union 18. At least, part of channel nearby tube 24 is provided with valve made of swelling desiccant that stay in contact with substrate to block said channel partially. Separators 23 made of the same nonwoven high-bibulous desiccant composed of discs. Aforesaid substrate is made up of corrugated perforated film or mesh.

EFFECT: higher reliability of assembly, higher safety and comfort for crew.
