FIELD: life support systems; space technologies.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to life support systems for crews, in particular spacecraft and orbital stations. In the proposed method, atmospheric moisture condensate is passed through a backfill in the form of activated carbon coated with a platinum catalyst with oxygen stored in its pores. This accelerates the process of electrochemical catalytic oxidation of organic impurities at ambient temperature, for example, the working compartment of the station. Additionally, an oxidizing agent (air oxygen) is supplied to the backfill in the required stoichiometric proportion. The proposed device consists of a condensate and air supply unit, cleaning and separation units. The purification unit contains columns connected in series, filled with an ion-exchange charge and platinum-carbon backfill. The charge containing anion exchanger and cation exchanger in a ratio of 3:1, and the backfill are located in separate columns to ensure the possibility of their periodic replacement.
EFFECT: increasing the resource of the purification unit compared to a scheme without forced supply of oxidizer, while simultaneously reducing variable mass costs.
