FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and can be used in processes for obtaining sulphur from flue gases which contain sulphur dioxide at chemical, petrochemical, gas processing and metallurgical companies. According to the invention, sulphur dioxide contained in flue gases is extracted and concentrated. If the load on the sulphur production apparatus drops below the minimum limit, the shortage of sulphur dioxide coming in with the flue gas is compensated for by feeding an additional amount of sulphur dioxide for concentration, said additional amount being obtained from partial combustion of sulphur which is extracted at the sulphur production apparatus. To measure the flow rate of the flue gas and concentration of sulphur dioxide therein, these data are used to calculate flow rate of sulphur which enters the sulphur dioxide concentration apparatus in form of sulphur dioxide with the flue gas and the flow rate of sulphur meant for combustion is determined based on the condition: K×NS-FSin, where K is the lower acceptable level of output of the apparatus with respect to sulphur (S1), parts; NS is the rated output of the sulphur production apparatus with respect to sulphur (S1), kg/h; FSin is the flow rate of sulphur which enters the sulphur dioxide concentration apparatus in form of sulphur dioxide with the flue gas, kg/h.

EFFECT: invention enables to stabilise operation of the sulphur production apparatus and increases reliability of operation thereof.
