FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process plant and a method of producing sulphur from feed gas. Method of producing sulphur consisting of 15 vol.%, 20 vol.%, 30 vol.%, 40 vol.% or 50-99 vol.% or 100 vol.% of H2S, and a stream of sulphuric acid includes the following steps: g. providing a Claus reaction furnace feed stream containing said feed gas, an amount of sulphuric acid, an amount of oxygen and optionally an amount of fuel, where amount of oxygen is substoichiometric, h. direction of said Claus reaction furnace feed stream into Claus reaction furnace operating at high temperature, such as above 900 °C, providing feed gas for Claus converter, i. cooling said feed gas for the Claus converter to provide a cooled feed gas for the Claus converter and optionally removing elementary sulphur from the gas, j. direction of said cooled feed gas for Claus converter after optional pre-heating for contact with a substance catalytically active in Claus reaction, k. removing the residual Claus reaction gas and elemental sulphur, optionally by cooling the effluent, from said substance catalytically active in the Claus reaction, l. directing a flow containing said residual Claus reaction gas to treating the residual Claus reaction gas, where said sulphuric acid directed into said Claus reaction furnace is in the form of droplets with a droplet size distribution characterized by fact that 90% of the mass of the droplets have diameter below 500 mcm, 200 mcm or 100 mcm, with the accompanying advantage of such a method, which effectively converts all liquid H2SO4 into gaseous H2SO4, and then into SO3 and, ultimately, into SO2, which is well suited for the Claus process.

EFFECT: high efficiency of producing elementary sulphur.
