FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of the aquatic environment and can be used in enriching natural and artificial water bodies with atmospheric oxygen, particularly stagnant zones during treatment of domestic and industrial waste water in biological ponds. The method of aerating water involves collecting water from a water body, collecting air from the atmosphere, mixing the water and air streams and discharging the water and air mixture into the water body. The water is collected from deep bottom layers of the water body using a lift pipe 1 which is mounted on a float 8 and comes out into the open atmosphere. The water is aerated in the top part of the lift pipe 1 by pumping air into the water under the action of impact pressure of atmospheric wind. The aerated water rises above the level of the free water surface in the water body and is discharged into the water body by evacuating the top end of the lift pipe 1 through the impact pressure of atmospheric wind. The apparatus for pumping air into the water of the top part of the lift pipe is in form of confusors 2 placed around the lift pipe 1. The means of discharging aerated water into the water body is in form of two umbrella-shaped surfaces 5 and 6 which are curved in a mirror image and form a convergent channel over the end of the lift pipe 1.
EFFECT: invention enables aeration of water without directing the apparatus towards the wind, without converting wind energy into other types of energy and enables to aerate deep bottom layers of the water first.
