FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises loading the blend, smelting it by electrodes arcs at maximum electric power at transformer highest tap, oxygen lancing of the melt and its release. Blend is loaded continuously via opening in furnace side wall and, additionally, via opening in furnace roof between electrodes. Loading is realised at weight rate equal to blend smelting rate. In loading, blend bed height above furnace sill makes (1-1.5)L where L is arc length. Lancing is performed through discharge flute porous bottom.
EFFECT: higher efficiency, lower costs and reduced melting loss.
