FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: speed sensor for determination of rotation speed of a rotating part with a projecting element is proposed. Speed sensor includes an electrode and a sensor circuit. The latter includes a constant voltage source for voltage supply to the electrode and further generation of electric field in dielectric medium, a signal amplifier, a sensor display and a display amplifier. Speed measuring method of rotating machine involves stages, at which the electrode is fixed in a certain position, voltage is supplied for formation of electric field, electric current is detected, which flows between the voltage source and the electrode, occurring as a result of electric field disturbance at each revolution of the rotating machine, the first modulated signal is amplified, as well as the second modulated signal is shaped, the frequency of which depends on the rotation speed of the part, rotation speed is determined based on modulated signal parameters; at that, at least some part of the speed sensor is screened with a conducting display fed with the signal picked up from the display amplifier output, and amplification coefficients of signal amplifiers and the display are equal. Voltage of the electrode, amplification coefficient of amplifier and electrode position relative to the rotating part is chosen so that modulation of the second signal is mainly caused by disturbance of electric field in dielectric medium by creating and/or moving ions in the field.

EFFECT: increasing signal-noise ratio.
