FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used for detection of atherosclerotic plaques with changed metabolic activity. For this purpose 5-aminolevulinic acid is introduced. After that fluorescence spectra in excitation within the range of wavelength 390-650 nm are measured. Sections with increased accumulation of 5-ALC-induced protoporphyrin are determined. Areas with peak of fluorescence within the range 670-680 nm are determined among said sections.
EFFECT: possibility of detecting atherosclerotic plaques with changed metabolic activity is provided, which can be used in selection of tactics of preventive and therapeutic procedures.
