FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: voltage at short-circuiting points is calculated based on voltage at the terminal lead and the location of short-circuits on the power transmission line; voltage at a short-circuiting point, which corresponds to maximum transient resistance, is chosen as the given value; voltage at the short-circuiting point is compared with the given value; and the type of damage is identified as stable or unstable based on the comparison result. The second version of the method is characterised by that: voltage at short-circuiting points is calculated based on voltage at the terminal lead; a given value which depends on the type of short-circuiting is selected based on voltage of a capacitive joint; voltage at the short-circuiting point is compared with said given value; and the type of short-circuiting is identified as stable or unstable based on the comparison results. Devices which realise the described methods are also disclosed.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of determining types of short-circuiting.
