FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device has spark gap between first and second main electrodes and enabling device incorporating additional spark gap between first and second additional electrodes; it is designed to generate arc in additional spark gap for firing arc in main spark gap. Each additional electrode is provided with guide designed to make arc move through guides and under action of magnetic field produced in the process to main spark gap; length of guides is greater than additional spark gap width. Additional electrodes are protected against impact of plasma generated in main spark gap by way of their disposition in protected position relative to main spark gap so that additional spark gap is disposed close to second main electrode and shifted from main spark gap toward main one. Spark gaps are placed in sealed enclosure.
EFFECT: enhanced speed of high-voltage circuit disconnection.
