FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in serial measurement of angular directions to a target within the width of a beam of a real antenna system with a single-pulse method while scanning it in the specified sector of surveillance due to rotation or electronically in the appropriate plane, subsequent synthesis of a linear-frequency modulated (LFM) signal of spatial frequencies that correspond to the measured directions, and compression of this signal along angular directions, and a device comprising serially connected a single-pulse metre of angular directions to the target within serially connected an antenna system, a filter and a discriminator of angular directions, an interpolator, a converter of angular directions measurement results into a spectral area of space frequencies, an LFM filter of compression and a generator of an object image.

EFFECT: getting a potential resolving capability for surveillance radars for the time of beam passage via a target on the basis of angular coordinates at all ranges, which is equal to a half of an antenna aperture size in an appropriate plane.
