SUBSTANCE: method comprises the following steps: inputting the original image into a data processing device; displaying the input image using a display device, automatic selection on said image of all objects of a given class using one visual method and selecting some of them using another special visual method, denoting them as search samples; automatic determination of sets of graphic characteristics of each of the samples; generating based thereon a search request with ranges of the expected values of the similarity function of the searched objects with the samples; searching the search images in an image base; sampling thereof; display; visual selection of searched objects in at least one of the searched images; and a process for manual visual control of the search accuracy using movable controllers which, when changing their state, once or repeatedly initiate a cycle consisting of the following operations: generating a request with previous sets of graphic characteristics of samples and with a new set of search ranges; searching images with parameters of the new request; sampling and displaying the searched images of their first selected portion with display of the objects selected therein, which satisfy conditions of the request.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities by providing visual control of search accuracy in search engines.
