FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry, particularly, to treatment of surfaces contaminated by metallic mercury at its spillage at 0°C to minus 30°C. In compliance with proposed method, demercurisation is carried out by solution of liquid chlorine in carbon tetrachloride with concentration of 5 mg/ml to 170 mg/ml for, at least, 5 minutes at 0°C to minus 30°C.
EFFECT: fast and efficient process.
