FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, particularly, to operation of contact system. When ice is formed at contact line wore 4 first pantograph 1 with connected load is raised. Insulating strap 2 between pantograph electric contact and wire causes a gap wherein electric breakdown occurs and arc originate due to electric potential to pass through gap 3. Sharp increase in air pressure occurs around formed arc. Arc starts destructing ice on wire while air in said gap expands to act from below to wire to make it vibrate, hence, bringing about extra mechanical effects onto ice. To approach of second pantograph 5 to ice destruction point, wire is completely cleaned of ice to allow good electric contact there between.
EFFECT: simplified design, higher efficiency, better operating conditions.
