FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method can be used for riveting the parts together. Rivet rod is formed at base part by its local friction heating with the help of rotary tool to generate friction heat, creation of plasticized zone and transfer of plasticized metal inside said tool. Mating part with preformed hole is fitted on made rod. Closing head is formed at rod end by rotary tool unless plasticized zone is formed to stop tool rotation, to increase pressure and to upset rivet.
EFFECT: lower labour input, ruled out defects in welding zone.
