FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: indexable insert has blades at face vertices and symmetric angular ledges at faces centers. To up cutting efficiency by combining roughing and finishing passes, faces between vertices are made concave. Note that aforesaid ledges incorporated finishing blades at their vertices. Note also that ledge height males one tenth of face length. Said ledges feature either triangular or semicircular shape. Said ledges may have alternating-shape faces, for example, triangular alternating with semicircle shape.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
