FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: hydrostatic support consists of guide 1 and body 2, their working surfaces being separated by slotted throttling gap that makes the support bearing layer. Body 2 has bearing channel 4, feed duct 5 communicated with working fluid source, and drain channel 6. Bearing channel 4 has steeped recess. Top step of said recess at its bottom is communicated with feed duct 5 while bottom step communicated with channel 6. Stepped plunger 7 is arranged in said recess to make slotted throttling gaps 8, 9 converging along working fluid flow owing to annular ledges 15, 16 at plunger side surfaces. Plunger 7 has throttling channel 10 and control channel 11 communicated therewith via throttling gap 12. Top and bottom steps are confined by conjugated surfaces of body 2 and plunger 7. Drain chamber 13 is formed at bottom step to communicate with channel 6 while pressure chamber 15 is formed at bottom step to communicated with channels 5, 10.
