FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed hydrostatic bearing can be used in machining equipment employing liquids or gases as lubricating media. Hydrostatic bearing contains housing, shaft installed in housing and bushing enclosing the shaft, and floating ring regulator enclosing the bushing. Clearance is formed between bushing and surface of shaft in which carrying lubricating layer is formed in process of operation. Bushing forms carrying lubricating layer with surface of shaft. Regulator forms slot restrictors with outer surface of bushing and with inner surface of housing. Ring nonrestricting grooves are made at both sides of regulator in middle plane of bearing. Nonrestricting channels are made in regulator to connect ring grooves to each other and connect them with lubricant feed source. Ring projections are made on outer surface of regulator at both ends. Said projections form slot stepped restricting clearance between housing and regulator. Radial restricting slot clearances are made in bushing in plane of location of regulator end faces. Said slot clearances connect slot restrictors with carrying lubricating layer. EFFECT: provision of considerable negative pliability of bearing, no necessity of two-side supply of feed liquid, possibility of operation at delivery of high compressible (gas) lubricant. 1 dwg
