FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: fluid medium heating device has a fluid medium passage from the inlet to the outlet with multiple heating sections positioned along the passage. Each heating section represents at least one pair of electrodes with electric current flowing between them through the fluid medium for resistive heating of the fluid medium during its flow along the passage. At least one heating section has a segmented electrode consisting of multiple electrically divisible segments. The controller determines the required voltage and current supplied to the fluid medium by each heating section, taking into account the variation of inlet conductivity as well as the fluid medium conductivity depending on temperature. The controller actuates the selected segments of the segmented electrode to provide for the segmented electrode supplying the required current and voltage to the fluid medium.
EFFECT: possibility to control the segmented electrode effective area with selective actuation of segments.
