FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed are methods and systems for a solid particle sensor located downstream of a diesel particulate filter in an exhaust system. In one example, the solid particle sensor assembly may comprise an external stepped tube, an internal stepped tube placed inside the outer tube, and a plate having a sensitive element arranged inside the inner tube, wherein the inner and outer tubes form a ledge in said assembly.

EFFECT: this ledge is configured to retain larger pollutants and water droplets and thereby prevent their action on a sensitive element arranged inside said assembly.
