FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, specifically to catheters for ablation and probing. Irrigated ablation catheter comprises an elongated body; a controlled deflectable section distal to catheter body; a tip electrode distal to deflectable section, comprising an outer shell defining a cavity and having a predetermined plurality of fluid ports, each contributing to a total fluid output area of tip electrode, and an internal member including a fluid inlet into tip electrode, having a fluid input area. Diffusion ratio of tip electrode, which is a ratio of total area of discharge fluid to fluid inlet area, is less than 2.0. Each of fluid ports has a diameter, value of which varies from 0.10 mm to 0.076 mm.
EFFECT: use of invention increases efficiency of cooling flow.
